For Filhos Brilhantes, Alunos Fascinantes, by Augusto Cury — a psychiatrist-scientist and one of Brazil’s most widely read authors, with millions of copies sold and a reputation for merging psychology, education and emotional intelligence in accessible, inspiring narratives — my role was to deliver a purely commercial cover design that captures both the weight of his name and the emotional power of the content.
Because this project is less about artistic experimentation and more about market impact and expressivity, my design approach emphasized clarity, recognizability, and emotional resonance. The challenge was to convey hope, mentoring, transformation — the core of Cury’s message — while ensuring the cover stands out on shelves, online thumbnails, and in bookstores crowded with similar titles. The typography is bold yet warm; color choices clean; layout designed for instant legibility and visual hierarchy; nothing overly ornate but everything purposeful.
This project demonstrates my versatility as a designer: able to move from elaborate or conceptual covers to those that must perform commercially from first glance. For Filhos Brilhantes, Alunos Fascinantes, every decision — font, color, placement — was made to serve the author’s voice, the publisher’s goals, and the reader’s expectations.
